House and ER Vets Head to Falling Skies

Deadline is reporting that House alum Robert Sean Leonard has landed his first post-House role on TNT's alien invasion series, Falling Skies.

In a role that seems like a fun departure from Leonard's Dr. Wilson on House, the actor will play "Roger Kadar, PhD - an obsessive but gifted scientist who runs Charleston’s power grid and lives underground with his pet rats. The children of New Charleston, intrigued by his cool science toys and unusual pets, eventually dub him 'The Rat King.'"

Additionally, Falling Skies star Noah Wyle has got to be excited about this second bit of casting news, as his former ER co-star Gloria Reuben will join the series in Season 3 as well; playing "Marina Perlata, an aide to Wyle’s Tom Mason, who has been one of the leaders from the human resistance movement against an invading alien force. Attractive and a very put together woman, Marina is extremely intelligent and her political knowledge and experience could prove extremely helpful to Tom."

Angelina Jolie's Daughter Cast in Malificent

Angelina Jolie’s daughter has been cast opposite her mother in the forthcoming fairytale adeventure Malificent.

According to Deadline, Vivienne Jolie-Pitt will play the young Princess Aurora in Malificent. Elle Faning will play the teenage version of the character, who is cursed to sleep until kissed by a handsome prince.

Malificent is a live-action take on Sleeping Beauty legend, with Jolie senior playing the titular sorceress.

The film is currently shooting in the UK and will hit screens in March 2014.

WWE/Scooby-Doo Animated Crossover Movie in the Works

Scooby-Doo is teaming up with the gang from the WWE in a new animated movie. Yep, really!

Deadline reported the surprising news, revealing Warner Bros. and WWE Studios will coproduce this new Scooby-Doo film, which will be released via Blu-ray, DVD, VOD and digital download by Warner Bros.

The story will involve Scooby and his pals investigating a mystery at, wait for it, WrestleMania. The WWE’s Triple H, John Cena, Kane, The Miz, Brodus Clay, Santino Marella, Sin Cara, AJ Lee and Vince McMahon are all voicing animated versions of themselves in the film.

WWE Studios President Michael Luisi tells Deadline the WWE will “use its considerable resources to promote the effort,” so you can bet there are some Scooby-powered touts coming!

While WWE and Scooby-Doo meeting is a first, it’s worth noting that this won’t be the first time WWE wrestlers have been animated (see above), nor the first time Scooby-Doo has had some unusual team-ups, having already met the likes of the Three Stooges, the Addams Family and the Harlem Globetrotters… Oh, and a certain Dark Knight, both in the 1970s and more recently.

Colin O'Donoghue is Once Upon a Time's Captain Hook

Colin O'Donoghue (The Rite) will soon have a recurring role as Captain Hook on ABC's Once Upon a Time, reports Deadline.

Fans have been abuzz with speculation since co-creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis teased the pirate villain's appearance at Comic-Con. Hook is one of several new fairytale characters coming aboard for Season 2, which also includes Mulan (Jamie Chung), Princess Aurora (Sarah Bolger) and Sir Lancelot (Sinqua Walls).

Deadline notes that this marks O'Donoghue's return to the network, where he played the lead in the 2011 pilot for Identity.

Christopher Eccleston Cast as Malekith in Thor 2

Former Doctor Who star Christopher Eccleston has been cast as the primary villain Thor: The Dark World.

Deadline claims the 28 Days Later and Shallow Grave actor will play Malekith the Accursed in the Marvel sequel. Eccleston is no stranger to comic book-oriented fare having played Destro in G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra and having a stint on the TV series Heroes.

Malekith the Accursed is the leader of the dark elves of Svartalfheim, who in the comics stole the Casket of Ancient Winters. (The casket can be seen in the first Thor movie.) Malekith also had a badass servant, Kurse, who ultimately turned on Malekith and killed him. The Malekith and Casket of Ancient Winters storyline was adapted for an episode of The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

Mads Mikkelsen was initially approached for the role, but had to bow out due to scheduling.

John Leguizamo Joins Kick-Ass 2

Actor-comedian John Leguizamo has reportedly joined the cast of Kick-Ass 2.

Deadline claims Leguizamo will "play Javier, the bodyguard assigned to protect aspiring evil guy Red Mist, the role to be reprised by Christopher Mintz-Plasse."

The site adds that other original cast members Aaron Johnson, Chloe Grace Moretz and Nicolas Cage will also be back for the sequel, which will be directed and scripted by Jeff Wadlow.

Leguizamo is no stranger to comic book adaptations having played Clown in the live-action Spawn movie.
