Mad Men Star Joins Arrested Development

Mad Men's John Slattery will soon be joining the upcoming fourth season of Arrested Development.

While TVLine, who broke the story, notes that Slattery's character has yet to be revealed, they also add that the actor will be appearing in multiple episodes. Slattery will play one of several new characters to appear alongside the original cast.

Said executive producer Ron Howard of the show's return, "[Series creator] Mitch [Hurwitz] isn't trying to recreate something. It's been away for a while, and part of the fun that Mitch has been mining and exploiting is, what's new to discover about these people? What’s delightfully unchanged? He and the writing staff and the actors have a fantastic sense of that. They're pretty brazen, pretty bold and fearless. That's what made the show into something that fans really kept alive."

As announced back in November, Arrested Development will be returning with 10 new episodes to premiere all at once on Netflix sometime next year.

Battlefield 4 Will Stay in Modern Setting

After being randomly revealed in a Medal of Honor: Warfighter promotion, we now have more details about DICE's in-development Battlefield 4. In a talk at GDC Europe, DICE's Karl Magnus Troedsson confirmed the setting of the game.

As reported by Joystiq, "We still want to stay in this genre, the modern day as it is. We feel this is a place we can be and continue with the series. Battlefield 4 can live in this space and be very successful."

He also mentioned that another Bad Company game isn't out of the question, stating, "That doesn't mean there might not be a Bad Company game again in the future."

Perhaps we'll hear more specifics after publisher Electronic Arts gets Medal of Honor: Warfighter out the door this fall. A closed beta test for Battlefield 4 is expected later next year after several more downloadable content releases for Battlefield 3.

Alledged Xbox 720 Dev Kit Sold on eBay

One of the alledged Xbox 720 development kits (codenamed Durango) has been sold on eBay for £12,833 (or $20,100).

The machine was sold by a man going under the alias of DaE, who appears to be the same individual that leaked the first images of the dev kit as well as last week's reported pictures of Kinect 2.0.

The online auction attracted 43 bids from 18 bidders. The winner, ****x, didn't bid until quite late in proceedings but jumped the price from $16,000 to $20,000 in a single bid.

While DaE's recent tweets suggest that he doesn't foresee any problems with the sale, it'll be interesting to see if Microsoft remains silent or gets involved. Traditionally, dev kits and the like remain property of the console manufacturer but are technically "loaned out" to developers to use under strict guidelines. The legal implications of selling one for profit are presumably pretty hefty.

We first heard about the Durango development kit back in February thanks to a tweet from Crytek, though Microsoft is yet to confirm the existence of the device or its codename.
