IntoxBox: Take Your Blood Alcohol Content for Two Bucks

If the developers of the IntoxBox have their way, responsible drinking could become a lot more scientific. Had a few drinks and not sure if you're okay to drive home? Grab a clean straw and a few dollars (or a credit card).

The 19-inch touch-screen kiosk guides bar patrons through a quick and straightforward breathalyzer test and spits out precise and intelligible results. (If you still have trouble reading them, you shouldn't need a test to tell you to call a cab.)

The kiosk is provided, installed and maintained free of charge to bars: the developers plan to monetize it with advertising and nominal per-use charges. According to promotional materials, a single test will cost $2, or $5 will cover tests for you and two friends.

It's almost a no-brainer - although flashy neon ads could spoil the cultivated ambience at classier watering holes. And in states where bartenders are legally responsible for patrons they've knowingly over-served, some bar managers might prefer to wash their hands of the liability.

If you do run across an IntoxBox, by all means try it out; but this is one situation where IGN recommends you don't shoot for the high score.
