Canadian Science Fiction Hit Continuum Coming to Syfy in America

Several of our Canadian readers had asked if IGN TV, whether via a written review or on the Channel Surfing podcast, would give our thoughts on the science fiction series Continuum. But as we explained on Channel Surfing, we couldn’t do this, because we haven’t seen the show – it hasn’t aired in the US yet.

But that will change soon. Deadline is reporting that Syfy is finalizing a deal to air the series in the United States, picking up the first season of ten episodes. Continuum will join fellow Canadian-originated series Lost Girl on Syfy.

Continuum stars Rachel Nichols (Alias, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) as a Vancouver police officer in the year 2077 who is transported to the present, along with a group of convicted prisoners she must track down. Yes, that’s right – this is a sci-fi/genre series shot in Vancouver (where The 4400, Smallville, V, Fringe, Supernatural and so many genre series have been shot) that is actually set in Vancouver!

The cast also includes Erik Knudsen (Scream 4), Lexa Doig (Andromeda, V) and Roger Cross (24).

Nintendo Video Chat: Playing New Super Mario Bros. 2

Welcome back to another mushroom-y edition of Nintendo Video Chat, IGN's very own Nintendo-centric video podcast. This week we've got Audrey "OMG I Hosted The Fix!" Drake (otherwise known as ME!!), Sam "Mustache Power" Claiborn, Brian "I Hosted The Fix Too!" BRAP BRAP" Altano, and Fran "I Hate Wii" Mirabella. That last nickname was a joke, people. Well, they all are, but... anyway. Moving on. Let's talk Nintendo things, shall we?

This week we're playing through some levels of forthcoming 3DS game New Super Mario Bros. 2. Wahoo!! The game hits the States this Sunday, but if you don't mind a few spoilers, allow this podcast to serve as a lengthy early look at Mario's latest.

Jay and Silent Bob Get Old Coming to DVD

The popular podcast series, featuring Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes, is getting a DVD, VOD (exclusively through Tribeca Film) and digital download (via iTunes and Amazon) release August 14, 2012, courtesy of Industrial Entertainment Releasing.

The dynamic duo recently toured the UK with their series. This two-disc DVD set, titlled Jay and Silent Bob Get Old: Tea Bagging In The UK, includes all three sold out shows as well as a few animated segments.

The DVD will feature an anamorphic widescreen transfer and stereo audio. Extras include outtakes from all three concerts.

Suggested retail for the DVD is set at $19.95. Amazon has the disc available to pre-order for $14.99.
